ASUS Router Setup

ASUS Router Setup

If you buy an ASUS WLAN router, you can connect it to any existing Internet router (usually a device from the Internet service provider and use it. In this tutorial, we will show you the simple steps for ASUS Router Setup and get to the Internet about it.  This is also the first step if you want to use an ASUS WLAN router for connecting to a VPN service. Once the ASUS router Setup is done and you can open Internet pages about it, you can configure a VPN service on it.

Instructions: Connecting the ASUS Router to the existing Internet router - "Step by step"

If you have received your ASUS router, then you are only minutes away from being connected to the VPN and to get to the ASUS Router Setup interface. Typically, the following settings should already exist (default and recommended setting of all traditional routers), allowing automatic configuration of the ASUS router:

Ø  The modem should have the DHCP function "active" and automatically assign an IP address to the router for ASUS RouterSetup.
Ø  The ASUS router itself will therefore pick up an IP address on its own which it will display under WAN (WAN setting: Obtain an IP address automatically). Other devices (PC, etc.) should also be set to "automatically obtain IP" in the network settings to have.
Ø  The ASUS Router also uses DHCP "active" to automatically assign the connected devices an IP address of their own network. (To find settings under LAN)
The two internal LAN networks (LAN at the modem & LAN at the ASUS) must differ at least   in the penultimate place: eg: Modem 192.168.1.x and ASUS then 192.168.2.x.   This is important because you have two separate LAN Networks; it is not possible to use the same network on both routers! If you want to assign your devices always an identical IP address, then you can do   that via the IP address reservation on the routers.

Connect your PC / Mac to the Asus router.

In order to do ASUS router setup, you will find a new Wi-Fi network "ASUS" and connect to it. Alternatively, you can also connect to the ASUS router with a LAN cable from your PC / Mac.
Start the ASUS configuration routine
ü  Immediately after connecting to the WLAN network, a configuration mask of the ASUS router appears on the own computer.
ü  You can also start this configuration manually by opening http://router.asus.com in the browser on the connected PC (cable or WLAN). You need to be connected directly to the router!
ü  In this ASUS configuration , you specify the following data:
·         Username & password to manage the router (default is user: admin and password: admin)
·         WLAN network name (in our example: vavt-VPN and vavt-VPN_5G)
·         Wi-Fi password
Are these steps done, then you are already connected to the ASUS router directly to the Internet and the whole process of ASUS Router Setup is performed successfully. The easiest way to determine this is if you open a website and it also appears in your browser.
